Introduction to Activity Examples
We present key initiatives from our past improvement activities.
Construction of environmental load reduction factories (E and F buildings)
Construction of building E (completed in 2011) and building F (completed in 2019) has led to significant improvements in energy efficiency, as well as improvements in productivity and quality, such as an expansion of production areas and installation of cleanrooms.
Introduction of the solar power generation system
The solar power generation system installed in building E builds about 430,000 kWh (70 households/day) per year and is working on the use of renewable energy.
Introduction of the indoor temperature management system
By centrally controlling indoor temperature management, we are working to reduce CO2 and electricity charges throughout the year.
Environmental Communication
Head Office
Koganei’s Head Office is located in Midori-cho, Koganei City—an area rich in greenery despite being within the Tokyo metropolitan region. Nearby are the Tokyo Metropolitan Koganei Park, one of Tokyo’s most famous cherry blossom viewing spots, and the Tamagawa Aqueduct, known for the scenic Koganei-zakura cherry trees.
To preserve this green environment and retain as many trees as possible, we have undertaken various initiatives.

During the construction of Technical Center Building N in fiscal year 2002, we developed a greening plan that prioritized preserving existing cherry trees. Each spring, these cherry blossoms bloom beautifully—rivaling those of Koganei Park—and are enjoyed not only by our employees but also by local residents.
Communication with Procurement Partners
Based on the Koganei Green Partner Program launched in 2004, we promote green procurement by sourcing materials and products with lower environmental impact. In particular, we actively procure raw materials and components that comply with environmental regulations such as the RoHS Directive and REACH regulation.
Environmental Education
(1) General Environmental Education
  • Environmental education is conducted based on environmental aspects identified within each workplace.
Since fiscal year 2005, we have implemented general environmental education for all employees to raise environmental awareness.
  • Training places particular emphasis on legal compliance, including the handling of solvents and waste management.
  • Workplace promotion leaders receive training as internal environmental auditors, enabling them to audit other departments and apply best practices within their own teams.
(2) Emergency Response Training
  • We conduct emergency response drills and voluntary disaster prevention training to ensure preparedness for unforeseen situations.
Social Contribution Activities
  • Installation of vending machines with a “Green Fund” donation program at our facilities to support environmental initiatives.
  • Participation in group blood donation programs as part of our social contribution efforts.
  • Engagement in the Eco-Cap recycling initiative.
  • Provision of a baseball field, free of charge, for use by local youth.
  • Daily cleaning activities and annual clean-up campaigns in and around our facilities.
  • Annual participation in the “Tenryu River Basin Environmental Picnic”, organized by the Nagano Techno Foundation Ina Techno Valley Regional Center, contributing to environmental conservation and beautification efforts.
