Initiatives to Reduce Packaging Materials and Hazardous Substances
Koganei is promoting the following three initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
-
1. Initiatives to Reduce Packaging Materials
- We have transitioned from petroleum-based expanded polystyrene to biodegradable foam materials made from wheat bran and corn.
- For large-volume orders, upon customer approval, individual packaging boxes are eliminated and replaced with simplified packaging such as air cushioning.
- For regular transactions, we introduce returnable containers to reduce customers’ packaging disposal burden and minimize waste generation.
-
2. Initiatives to Reduce Hazardous Substances
- As part of our LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) activities, we investigate hazardous substances contained in our products and prohibit or reduce the use of applicable substances.
- X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers have been installed at our headquarters and Komagane Plant to detect hazardous substances in incoming parts and finished products.
-
3. Response to Inquiries Regarding Hazardous Substance Surveys
- To support customers in ensuring environmental quality compliance, we respond to inquiries regarding hazardous substance surveys related to our products.
